‘Trump’s hostile words signify the weakness and desperation of a dying system’

http://www.balkanspost.com/article/411/trump-words-africa-shithole-u.s.-imperialism

“Although Trump’s rhetoric is hostile, at least he is honest in revealing that America seeks to continue as a racist white-controlled state,” Abayomi Azikiwe, the editor of the Pan-African News Wire, told Balkans Post.

“These utterances by Trump are not a manifestations of the self-assuredness of the West. It is a clear sign of the weakness and desperation of a dying system gasping for breath seeking to project its declining power amid an irreversible decline,” Mr. Azikiwe added.

Madison, January 27, 2018: Conversation About Racism in the Queer Community: MLK Day

Hosted by OutReach LGBT Community Center

2701 International Lane, Suite 101, OutReach LGBT Community Center, Madison, 10 A.M. – 12 NOON

Join us for our monthly discussion about racism within the queer community and how to work to dismantle it.

This month’s topic: Martin Luther King Jr Day and the whitewashing of movements.

As always, these conversations are intentionally queer spaces for those who identify as queer or LGBTQIA+ to come together, share experiences and learn from one another.

As a group, we acknowledge all forms of oppression (past and present) and confront structures of white supremacy. We learn from each other, and call each other in to dig deeper to understand these systems. Please join us for an engaging meeting!

Madison, January 18, 2018: Join Derail the Jail Action at County Board!

Hosted by Derail the Jail

City-County Building, Madison, 6:30 – 9:30 P.M.

The County Board will be voting Thursday on actually borrowing the $76 million for constructing hundreds of new jail cells (as well as the rest of the 2018 capital budget) that they approved on Nov 20th — when we gave them the worst meeting they’ve had in decades, as one Supervisor put it.(see video here- http://alturl.com/oar72).
They are thinking that’s all past them. They’re thinking the Derail the Jail folks and everyone who cares about ending racist mass incarceration have given up and gone home. They are thinking they would a have quick, ruffle free business like meeting this Thursday night, as they lift the next among a series of roadblocks before jail construction can begin.

Let’s give them a rude awakening! They don’t get to continue to have business as usual while building cages and destroying lives!

WEAR ALL BLACK,

JOIN US @ 6:30 pm at City County Building (210 MLK Jr Blvd) just inside the doors for quick huddle and more details, then register to speak in public testimony or just register against the bonding resolution that includes borrowing for the jail construction. The County Board will be meeting in Room 201 starting 7pm

This is just the start! Derail the Jail is committed to continuing the fight against racist mass incarceration in Dane County in 2018 and beyond. We will continue the fight for reallocating funds and priorities away from caging humans and towards building up our community.

Milwaukee, January 23: MSDF Informational Picket

901 N 9th Street, Milwaukee County Courthouse, 11:30 – 1:30 A.M.

Come contribte to the continuous visible opposition to MSDF. We will be out front of the courthouse, and if we have enough people also the back door and MSDF enterence. Help us spread information to and collect petition signatures from people targeted by and doing business with Milwaukee’s criminal legal system.

If you haven’t signed the petition yet yourself, please do here:https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/its-time-to-close-milwaukee-secure-detention-facility-msdf

A coaltion of Milwaukee organizations have joined up to shut down MSDF. This facility is a building within a building, where captives have no access to fresh air or sunlight. They are triple bunked in lockdown cells for over 20 hours a day. There is no outdoor rec. The facility was built and is run using funds that should be used for diversionary programs to keep people out of jail, instead it’s being used to keep them on supervision under arbitrary and vindictive probation and parole officers.

We are organizing this protest twice a month. On every 23rd, and one day two weeks before. The National Religious Campaign Against Torture has called for actions on the 23rd of every month (to bring attention to 23 hour a day lockdowns). http://www.nrcat.org/about-us/take-action-current-legislation/563-together-to-end-solitary

Milwaukee, January 20: Antifascists Unite: Meal & Info Picket

Hosted by Milwaukee IWW

6th & National, Milwaukee, 12 NOON – 3 P.M.

One year into the tyranny that is the current administration, and WE ARE STILL HERE. We been in the streets, holding organizer trainings, educating ourselves, and arming the revolution with self-defense. We have said NO, NO, NO to to racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and xenophobia. We have come through with mutual aid, taken care of our friends when they are sick or unsafe, cop watched, and made amazing radical art. We have taken back workplaces, and made huge moves to secure space, food, legal assistance, and housing. But we aren’t even close to being done; with food donations by Food Not Bombs MKE as well as various individuals, we are proving that the resistance is fertile, deep, strong, and will not be silenced by repression by the state nor apathy. Gather with us to celebrate the triumphs, mourn the injustices, and educate yourself about the current issues at hand and what we as a community can do about them, all while sipping some hot beverage and spooning some soup. If you are able, please bring a dish for 4-5 people. If half the people bring a dish, we will have more than enough! We will also be collecting donations of warm winter coats/gear and nonperishable foods for folks in need!

Note: the space will be properly shoveled and is wheelchair accessible. We will be outside so BUNDLE UP!! <33

Rally against Trump and Capitalism: We Don’t Have to Live LIke This!
4pm Grand Central Terminal

Since January 20th 2017, our class has been under attack with ICE raids, state repression, killer cops and deep cuts into what’s left of our social safety net. Hundreds of activists are facing felony charges for protesting against this racist misogynist regime. Tens of thousands of families are being deported or incarcerated for simply being born. The drive for war goes faster and we all get poorer.

We don’t have to live like this. The Democrats have shown they can’t save us. They can’t even defend an election they say was stolen from them. Across the country, we are tirelessly mobilizing against white supremacy, war and capitalism. It’s only by getting organized, putting the ruling class on notice and making our people power known that we have any hope of fightback.

We will fight for our lives by taking to the streets across the country to address the core problem of all our miseries: a regime that arrests us, dispossesses us, poisons us, bashes us, evicts us, and kills us.
