Native American activist Leonard Peltier has spent over 40 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Prosecutors and federal agents manufactured evidence against him (including the so-called “murder weapon”); hid proof of his innocence; presented false testimony obtained through torturous interrogation techniques; ignored court orders; and lied to the jury. People are commonly set free due to a single constitutional violation, but Peltier—innocent and faced with a staggering number of constitutional violations—has yet to receive equal justice.
The Anti-Muslim organization “ACT for America” wants to have a rally on the steps of the Federal Courthouse called “America First. They say they are concerned with National Security but we know they just want to stir up hate.
Let’s show them that Milwaukee rejects their hateful message.
US President Donald Trump’s decision to cancel a program that prevents the deportation of certain undocumented immigrants who entered the country as minors is “outrageous” and ” provocative” and “portrays the United States as a racist society crippled by its own xenophobic fears”, an African-American journalist in Detroit says.
On Tuesday, Trump announced the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), an Obama-era program that offers protection to young undocumented immigrants brought to the US as children.
“Trump’s announcement was outrageous, provocative and does not take into account the history of the United States, said Abayomi Azikiwe, editor at the Pan-African News Wire, http://panafricannews.blogspot.com/
Azikiwe noted in a phone interview with Press TV on Wednesday that the indigenous Native Americans have been “those people commonly referred to as the Indians”, who were eradicated and replaced by European settlers and their African slaves.
“Those people [Native Americans] were largely eliminated through the genocidal policies of the European-American settlers,” he said.
Azikiwe said European-Americans settlers also exploited the Mexicans and gained control of large portions of their lands.
“Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, California were sovereign Mexican territories” he said.
He said these youths, known by media as “Dreamers”, who were brought into the US as children and blended in with the community and integrated into the society and lack the social skills to live in their country of origin, are now facing detention and deportation.

Trump’s immigration policies have sparked protests both inside the US and abroad since he took office in January.
Trump has pledged to deport millions of undocumented immigrants and keep Latin American immigrants from illegally entering the country by building a wall on the border with Mexico.
510 S Dillard Street, Durham, North Carolina Courthouse, 8:30 A.M. – 2 P.M.
September 12 is the next court date for some of the anti-racist freedom fighters arrested in connection with the toppling of the Confederate statue that once stood in Durham. Show up in Durham to demonstrate our continued support for them and keep pushing forward the struggle to tear down white supremacy!
We will also honor the resistance in Charlottesville, VA on the one month anniversary of the murder of Heather Heyer, and the struggle across the South to tear down the vestiges of the Confederacy and white supremacy – from monuments, to the school to prison pipeline, police brutality, the prison industrial complex, and more.
Communities and organizers from Charlottesville to Durham have shown that now, more than ever, is the time to take bold and courageous action — to pick either the side of white supremacy or the side of freedom fighters who dare to envision a different and better world for us all.
Join us in Durham to take the side of freedom – we will first gather outside the Durham County Courthouse, and then march to Vicotry Plaza (CCB Plaza – 201 Corcoran St) for a community celebration and assembly.
We will hear from speakers and special guests, including:
> Malcolm Suber from Take Em Down NOLA
> more TBA
