A major new report from the progressive One Wisconsin Institute finds that the right-wing Bradley Foundation spent more than $108 million, working with 130 partner groups, to privatize public schools in Wisconsin between 2005 and 2014. During the same period, the state’s public schools experienced dramatic budget cuts.

The labor-community organization A Job Is A Right Campaign also exposed Bradley through a variety of reports, articles and a protest at the Bradley headquarters in August 1997.

Over New Year’s weekend, agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out raids in Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Texas targeting Central American refugees ordered removed by an immigration judge in deeply flawed hearings where their constitutional rights were denied.

On Thursday, January 7 Voces de la Frontera and the New Sanctuary Movement of Milwaukee lead a protest at the ICE office downtown Milwaukee (310 E. Knapp St.) in support of refugee community members and calling on ICE to stop the raids. Stay tuned for upcoming Know Your Rights Workshop and other resources for community self-defense.
