Rockford, IL, April 24: Rally for Mumia Abu-Jamal

In celebration of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal’s 61st birthday, FIST calls for all those who oppose the injustice system which lets racist police who kill free and locks up community leaders to rally outside the jail in downtown Rockford at 1pm on Friday, April 24. Recently, Mumia has been facing a dire health crisis due to the prison’s purposeful ignoring of his medical needs. It has been their plan to murder this powerful leader since the day they locked him up and it has been the support of the people which have kept him alive to this day.

Milwaukee, April 19: U.S. Hands Off Venezuela Rally

International day of solidarity with Venezuela! U.S. Hands Off!

April 19th, 6pm, corner of Humboldt and Locust.

Rally followed by social and discussion over drinks at Riverwest Public House Cooperative at approx. 7pm.

132 political parties from 40 countries are calling for an international day of solidarity with solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the March 9 threats made by President Barack Obama.

Recent coup attempts have been thwarted by the progressive government of Venezuela, like the one staged by the U.S. in 2002 which temporarily kidnapped President Hugo Chavez. Now the U.S. is amping up rhetoric against Venezuela in an attempt to overthrow the progressive, democratic government.

Obama’s “Executive Decree” baselessly declared Venezuela “an extraordinary and unusual threat” to the national security of the U.S.

http://ilwulocal10.org/

Whereas, our brothers and sisters in ILA Local 1422 of Charleston, South Carolina (http://www.ilalocal1422.com/) have been organizing protests against the recent killing of unarmed Walter Scott shot in the back by police,

Therefore Be It Resolved that if our brothers and sisters of ILA 1422, home of the Charleston 5 struggle of which Local 10 was in the forefront, call on us to join with them now in a protest against police brutality we will stand with them in solidarity.
