Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has detained hundreds of immigrants for ICE. The executive action announced by Pres. Obama last September narrowed the circumstances in which ICE is supposed to be collaborating with local police. Our community must be vigilant to make sure our Sheriff complies. Also, we have to fight to put an end to all collaboration between local police and ICE. ICE out of Milwaukee!

Tuesday, February 3 at 6:30pm, we will meet about this at Ascension Lutheran Church (corner of 27th St. and Scott St.). We will have a bilingual interfaith prayer vigil in solidarity with people affected by deportation at 6:30, and after that we will meet to discuss putting an end to collaboration between ICE and the Sheriff. Dontre Hamilton was shot 14 times at Red Arrow Park on April 30, 2014. While his death was ruled a homicide, his killer (a former Milwaukee Poilce Officer) still walks the streets as a free man. This Friday (January 30) will mark 9 months since this crime took place, however we are yet to get justice for Dontre, and/or the other families that have seen their sons and loved ones taken from them at the hands of negligent police officers and racist vigilantes.

This Friday we will be taking our fight directly to the individuals who are responsible for Dontre’s death, to hold them accountable for their actions and subsequent inaction. Our fight is for Justice. Our fight is to end the the explicit and implicit racial profiling practices that lead to the criminalization of black men and women (and other people of color) by the police force and businesses in this city.

Please join us at Red Arrow Park (1000 N. Water St.) Friday January 30 at 6 pm as we rally and demonstrate to demand justice in MKE. We hope to see you there! Lets show up! Lets make them feel both our presence and our pressure!
