Bolivian President Calls For Israeli Boycott

Bolivian President Evo Morales has officially signed on as a supporter of the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

In an open letter released yesterday, Morales heads a long list of signatories from Latin America and elsewhere condemning “apartheid and genocide” against Palestinians, and calls on Israel to respect United Nations resolutions. Among those listed as signatories include former President of Honduras Mel Zelaya, Nobel peace prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano, Cuban musician Silvio Rodríguez and teleSUR President Patricia Villegas.

According to the website of the BDS Movement, the BDS campaign is an initiative of 170 Palestinian civil society launched in 2005. The campaign – modelled on the campaign against Apartheid South Africa – calls for boycott of Israeli products, divestment from Israeli companies and sanctions against the Israeli state to assert pressure so that Israel “complies with international law and Palestinian rights”.

$15 MINIMUM WAGE NOW!
STOP THE FOOD STAMP CUTS!

Another wave of food stamp cuts are underway, on top of federal food stamp cuts that hit millions of poor and working people twice since November. States are reinstating work requirements and ending waivers to allow less people to qualify. But there are no jobs, especially at decent pay with benefits! And most people report they already run out of SNAP benefits after two weeks. Help us build the August 16 ‘Food is a Right’ People’s Assembly in Chicago this summer to demand money for food and jobs, not wars abroad. We will hold panels and plan actions to demand…

Stop all cuts to government SNAP and food programs

Healthy food affordable for all – end food desserts

Economic justice for food, agricultural and all workers –
including the right to unionize

Hold the corporate food industry and agribusiness accountable for their environmental and health devastation in the U.S. and worldwide

Voces de la Frontera Statement: In Solidarity With Rasmea Odeh

http://vdlf.org/in-solidarity-with-rasmea-odea/

…As an organization that defends immigrant and refugee rights, we join other organizations around the country in condemning the U.S. government’s actions against an outstanding community leader and organizer for immigrant, Palestinian, and women’s rights in the Chicago area. As associate director of Arab American Action Network (AAAN) in Chicago since 2004, Rasmea Odeh runs a women’s empowerment program that serves more than 600 Arab immigrant women. In 2013, she was awarded the “Outstanding Community Leader Award” from the Chicago Cultural Alliance, indicating the breadth of support she has in the community.

Rasmea Odeh does not deserve to be stripped of her citizenship and deported to the country that committed such awful acts against her.

Voces de la Frontera calls on U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade, Assistant U.S. Attorney Barry Jonas, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to stop the indictment of Rasmea Odeh and drop all federal charges…

United States Directly Enables Israeli Attacks on Gaza: Documents

http://panafricannews.blogspot.com/

http://www.presstv.ir/

Newly-released top secret documents provided by whistleblower Edward Snowden reveal that the US government is directly enabling Israel’s military assaults on Gaza by sharing intelligence on “Palestinian targets” with Israeli spy services.

The US National Security Agency “maintains a far-reaching technical and analytic relationship with the Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU) sharing information on access, intercept, targeting, language, analysis and reporting,” according to the documents dated April 13, 2013 and published on Monday by The Intercept.

“Over the last decade, the NSA has significantly increased the surveillance assistance it provides to its Israeli counterpart, the Israeli SIGINT National Unit (ISNU; also known as Unit 8200), including data used to monitor and target Palestinians,” writes Glenn Greenwald, editor of The Intercept and confidante of Snowden.

In many cases, British and Canadian intelligence services also cooperate with the NSA and ISNU, according to the documents.

Low-Wage Workers in Wisconsin & Internationally Keep The Heat On Bosses By Fighting For Living Wages & A Union

https://www.facebook.com/RaiseUpMKE

Milwaukee workers are speaking out – we need $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation.

Not only is higher pay the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing to do for Milwaukee. When workers are paid fairly, they spend the money on everyday items in our own community — and strengthen our economy.

That’s how we create the Milwaukee we all want. It won’t be easy, but we can make it happen. Help us send employers – and all of Milwaukee – a message they can’t ignore.
