Ramón Labañino of the Cuban 5 Transferred to Kentucky

After a long journey that led him to be more than 2 months without his personal belongings, 21 days in different maximum solitary isolation cells – “the hole” – both in Miami and in Atlanta, with only his prisoner uniform and a blanket, without any consideration for the low temperatures, prevented from being visited by his lawyer, suffering extreme hardship to receive visits from his relatives who could only see him 3 times out of 8 possibilities to visit. Being forced to travel long distances from one prison to another, brutally handcuffed with the black box, causing damage to his wrists, now finally Ramon has arrived at a low security prison in Kentucky where he must continue his unjust sentence of 30 years.

From now on send Ramón letters to the following address.

Remember that after 14 years of violations the U.S. still prevents him from receiving letters in his name.

To write to Ramón write on the envelope the following:

Milwaukee, March 2: Support the Palermo’s Boycott, Picket the Bradley Center!

http://tinyurl.com/bhe34dt

11 a.m. – 1 p.m., 4th & State, Milwaukee

The MU Coalition for Worker Rights will be picketing outside the BMO Harris Bradley Center right before the MU-Notre Dame basketball game, demanding that Marquette University cut its contract with Palermo Villa, Inc.

Marquette University, despite being an affiliate of two international groups that support fair labor rights, has a contract with Palermo’s Pizza, a company that fired dozens of workers this summer for attempting to form a union.

The MUCWR stands in solidarity with the Palermo workers, and is urging Marquette to stand behind its principles and international agreements by cutting its contract with this exploitative company.

Meet on the corner of 4th and State St. at 11am; we will picket and flyer for about half an hour before holding a rally with speakers from the MU Coalition, the UWM Coalition, and the striking Palermo’s workers.

This will be big. Join the MUCWR in supporting the striking Palermo workers!

“Today was living proof that the housing justice movement is alive and well. It’s inspiring to see people from so many communities–Somali families trying to send money home, security guards on strike, college students, neighbors reclaiming their neighborhood from crime and blight, even Wells Fargo employees–all coming together to stand for a change to Wells Fargo’s practices,” said Anthony Newby, executive director of Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC). “Minnesota deserves better, and it’s time Wells Fargo stepped up to the challenge.”
