Milwaukee, Nov. 28: African Kora & Drum Concert & Drum Circle w/ Keba Diabate

THE CLEARING : Center for Well Being, 9141 West Lisbon Avenue, 8-9:30 p.m.

First, a concert w/ Keba Diabate (kora), Yaya Kumbaye (drum), Glenn Asche (violin) and Carl Nichols (guitar) begins at 8pm.

Keba Diabate was born into a griot family of African Storytellers and Historians whose primary work involved dance, music, and storytelling and passed through oral tradition from one generation to the next. Keba, master of drum and Kora (African Harp), learned the traditional rhythms, dances, songs and stories from family members. He has life long experiences learning and participatin

g in the artistic activities of his uncles, aunts, parents and grandparents.Second we join in and play traditional African rhythms. New students can learn basic patterns to accompany ! 8:00-9:30 pm.Our studio is on the lower level. Your cash donation supports these fine musicians. We suggest $18 per person.
