International Calls Needed to Honduran Supreme Court on Thursday, March 7

Hundreds of Hondurans have been walking since last Monday in the ‘Walk for Dignity and Sovereignty Step by Step.’  They will walk almost 200 kilometers (120 miles) to reach the Honduran capital to demand freedom for political prisoner Jose Isabel ‘Chavelo’ Morales, the repeal of the new mining law, and the repeal of the model cities legislation.  On Thursday, March 7th, they will arrive at the Honduran Supreme Court to demand immediate freedom for Chavelo Morales, a campesino (peasant) leader who has been held prisoner for over 4 years without any evidence of committing a crime in a trial full of irregularities. 

 

Please call and e-mail the Honduran Supreme Court in solidarity with Honduran social movements and urge them to annul Chavelo’s sentence and free him immediately!
