Organizing for Justice, Teaching for Black Lives

With special guest Jesse Hagopian

Jesse Hagopian is an Ethnic Studies and ELA teacher and is the co-adviser to the Black Student Union at Garfield High School–the site of the historic boycott of the MAP test in 2013. Jesse is an editor for the social justice periodical Rethinking Schools and is the co-editor of the book, Teaching for Black Lives.

5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. | Registration and refreshments
6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. | Discussion with Jesse Hagopian on Teaching for Black Lives and teaching and organizing for culturally relevant ethnic studies.
7:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. | Networking and book signing
