Milwaukee, June 16, 2020: The People’s Movement Protest and Pop-Up Project

PMM Peaceful Protest and Pop-Up Project
We are going to be doing things a little different during the June 16th, 2020 gathering and protest.
We ask that those joining us wear clothing they don’t mind getting messy in as we will all be partaking in a “pop-up” paint/art project of sorts.
We urge the community to continue to wear masks for their own safety during all of our events. We are still dealing with a pandemic.
Gathering and Supply Donation: 4pm
Walking of the protest/project: 5pm
If you’d like to donate financially so that supplies can be purchased as well (Masks, Water, Snacks, Etc) our currently used Venmo is @TomiBordeaux
The route will be determined by what is safest for the group as a whole taking into consideration all parties involved.
We thank everyone over the last two weeks who have continued to join in these protest gatherings and want to remind everyone that with the continuation of this we have become a movement and there will always be power behind your voice and IT DESERVES TO BE HEARD!

Milwaukee, June 19, 2020: Juneteenth Sit-In

3300 N Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Milwaukee, WI – 12 Noon – 6 P.M.
We are People’s Movement and as of June 19th we have been marching for 22 days straight. We People don’t want to ever forget about George Floyd or any of brothers and sisters who have fallen victim to police brutality. Right now we are simply looking to spread awareness about the infinite amount of injustices people of color are facing every single day. That’s why we are still marching and will continue marching until Equality is for ALL PEOPLE‼️‼️
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating all the way back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free!!
With everything going on in the world we still want to make sure to celebrate all of our victories as well as our ancestors. So on Friday June 19th at 12pm we are inviting you to come hang out with us and Peoples Movement. There will be music by DJ Mando, local music performances, spoken word, vendors, food trucks etc. The event will start on Dr. MLK Jr Dr & Concordia in front of Bader Philanthropies, Inc. extending south down Dr. MLK Jr Dr.
Come spend the day with us as we celebrate The People ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
Delafield, WI, June 20, 2020: Black Lives Matter Protest
Peaceful Protest against Racial Injustice
Hosting a protest in downtown Delafield to help bring racial injustice to the forefront of our community. It’s an opportunity to listen to residents of our community and beyond speak out against racism here and across the country. This event will include speakers as well as a march around the downtown area.
We also ask that participants be mindful of our local Farmer’s Market which will be happening concurrently with our event. It’s a great opportunity to patronize and support local vendors while lending your ear to important issues of today.

Abolish Police & ICE!
Rockford, IL, June 19, 2020: Juneteenth March
Milwaukee Freedom Fund: Drop All Charges Against Freedom Fighters NOW!
We just received this statement from the District Attorney’s office in response to our email. While some of it we knew, such as City Attorney Tearman Spencer has discretion over municipal citations (such as curfew tickets), we want to draw your attention to this last paragraph. This is our response.
1. The DA has considerable discretion over which cases to pursue and we do not think this city’s time and resources should be spent on punishing these individuals, especially not while Joel Acevedo’s murderer (and so many other murderers) go free.
2. We refuse to trust the carceral system, that has proven itself time and time again untrustworthy, to provide justice for these individuals. That means that we do not trust the police officers that were tear gassing protesters to decide which folks merit criminal charges.
3. While the DA’s office strategically draws attention to people accused of looting and property crime, we know of at least four people fighting charges of reckless endangerment and resisting or obstructing an officer for very understandable reactions to police-induced chaos. These are just the folks we know of and any number would be too many.
We will not argue that every person was “peacefully protesting”, we will argue that they do not deserve the punishment reserved for Black people in this society.
If we are committed to seeing a better society, we are committing to protecting protesters over property, protecting citizens over police, protecting our future over the status quo.
