Two local nonprofits are actively unionbusting, reports OPEIU Local 2. With over 80% support, staff at the National Association for City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) requested voluntary recognition last week but, says Local 2, management immediately began running a campaign encouraging staff to withdraw their written support for the union. Meanwhile, staff at DC SAFE are getting ready to launch a letter-writing campaign after the District’s only 24/7 domestic violence crisis intervention agency responded to staff organizing by hiring McGuireWoods, a law firm which boasts that “We aren’t faint of heart. We will do everything legally permissible to help your employees stay union-free.” Follow Local 2 on Twitter here.
