Dear Friends, Today is a special commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the first free and fair elections in Haiti. On December 16, 1990, the people of Haiti organized their own elections and in a massive turn out elected liberation theologian Father Jean-Bertrand Aristide president with 67% of the vote in a field of 11 candidates. As president and now as private citizens, Dr. Aristide with his wife and colleague Mildred Aristide continue to prioritize education to address some of the most pressing issues facing Haiti’s population.
As one of the actions during Haiti Solidarity Week, we invite you and your friends to join actor and filmmaker Mr. Danny Glover, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and former First Lady of Haiti Mrs. Mildred Aristide speaking about the medical school and other programs at the University of the Dr. Aristide Foundation for Democracy [UNIFA] and the building of the university hospital.
