On March 22nd, after a tragic and traumatic shooting, MPD lacked the foresight and ability to provide community relief, resources or appropriate response to those who were staying at the Men’s Temporary Shelter on 1st street.
They ignored advice from medical professionals, was deceitful in communicating the needs of those affected by the tragedy aforementioned, and lacked empathy and courage to provide any tangible support. This included a man nearly dying from respiratory failures.
This also resulted in the community, once again, providing basic essentials, food and water, mental health support and transportation.
We cannot continue to stay idle when these systems in their positions of power fail to protect and uphold their community. We march in solidarity to those in the most affected by the social ills of our society.
