912 56th Street, Kenosha County Courthouse – 10 A.M.
Mr. Clyde McLemore is the founder of the Black Lives Matter Lake County. He was falsely charged on February 20, 2021 by District Attorney Graveley, with attempted battery to a law enforcement officer — a felony — and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. If convicted, McLemore could be imprisoned up to three years.
This is clearly a targeted attack on another Black freedom fighter. These charges are distorting the truth and only serve as an attempted halt to the Black Liberation movement, as we have seen so many times in the past. We stand with Mr. Clyde McLemore and against these bogus charges.
At the very same protests in Kenosha that Mr. McLemore attended, the police were allowed to brutalize protestors with no consequence. Kyle Rittenhouse murdered two people and shot a third, yet the cops let him walk away from the situation/turn himself in. Now Mr. McLemore, a Black freedom fighter, is being apprehended by the cops due to bogus claims.
Ms. Letetra Wideman, chair of the Black Lives Matter Lake County, says “I would like to understand how the police can put a warrant out for the arrest of Clyde for kicking a door but there was no charge for the police officer who shot my brother in the back seven times with his children in the car,” Wideman said. “If they don’t want to tell us in plain words that their actions are motivated by racism and systemic racism, then their actions have proven it without saying a word. They don’t have to say it verbally, we are constantly being shown that our lives do not matter.”
