One of the nation’s longest and most bitter labor strikes moves its fight from rural Alabama to Washington, D.C. today. The United Mine Workers of America, on strike at Warrior Met Coal, will be joined by additional UMWA members and allies – including AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler — for a 10a event on K Street outside Fidelity Investments, investors with shares in the mining company (see Calendar) . UMWA members have been on strike against Warrior Met Coal for more than eight months over wages, healthcare and time-off for its workers. Today’s DC action is in conjunction with events worldwide as part of UMWA International Day of Action, including New York City, Denver, Boston, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Montgomery, Alabama, Newport Beach, California and Melbourne, Australia.
