City Deck Landing, Green Bay, WI – 5 P.M.
Earth Day Celebration & Rally to Protect Clean Water!
A FREE event, open to the public, to protect our waters and Menominee sacred sites from the threat posed by the Back Forty Mine project.
Please join us in celebrating Earth Day at the Rally to Protect Clean Water! This will take place on Earth Day (Friday April 22nd) at 5 pm on the Green Bay City Deck.
The event will begin with a water ceremony preformed by Menominee faith keepers, followed by water protectors speaking, and closing with a march.
We hope to raise awareness about the proposed Back 40 Mine which seriously threatens to pollute the Menominee River, which flows into the Green Bay, with toxic chemicals such as cyanide, arsenic, and lead.
The corporation behind the mine, Gold Resource Corporation (GRC), refuses to acknowledge the existence of the clearly visible Menominee burial mounds and raised garden beds on the proposed mining site. These sacred sites will be destroyed if the Back 40 Mine is allowed to be constructed.
