May 14-Highway 100/Bluemound- NAKBA DAY- Nakba 74
NOON – 1 P.M.
Nakba Day marks 74 years of Palestinian resistance. It’s also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe, which was the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948 by Israeli colonialism.
We will commemorate of the mass displacement of the Palestinian people from their cities and villages, massacres of civilians, and the razing to the ground of many Palestinian villages that occurred in 1948. For centuries, Palestinians had been living in vibrant towns and cities in Palestine. But in 1948, people who wanted to establish Israel on land where Palestinians were already living forced nearly 75% of the Palestinian population out of their homes and off their land, separating families and destroying entire communities. Today, the Palestinians are among the largest displaced population with over 2 million people who can’t return to their homeland.
