We’re kicking off our 9th Annual Reclaim MLK Weekend TODAY at noon with a land blessing and opening ceremony at our new community resource building, ‘The People’s House’! In addition to our big annual march and car caravan on MLK Day, we’re hosting a grand opening block party at The People’s House tomorrow, plus a series of virtual panels, trainings, and film screenings all weekend long in honor of Dr. King and the long lineage of Black freedom fighters who came before us. What: 9th Annual March and Car Caravan to Reclaim MLK’s Radical Legacy
When: Monday, January 16, meet up at 11am
Where: Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, 2777 Middle Harbor Rd, Oakland, CA 94607
Accessibility: This will be a hybrid march and car caravan. The route should be approximately 3 miles long. We will keep a steady and community informed pace for those who take part in the march (supported by marshals). Masks will be required for the march portion. We will make announcements reminding folks about masking expectations and will proactively give out masks as well. Some live/recorded footage will be available on our social media pages.
