Tell Mayor Duggan -Amend this year’s budget and appropriate the full $12 million NOW that was promised and is needed to implement the Detroit Right to Counsel Ordinance. We can’t afford to wait until next year for relief! -Allocate $27 million for next fiscal year. Use General Fund, Budget Surplus & American Rescue Plan Act Funds to: Open the Office of Eviction Defense to the public. Publicize a phone number, website, and email address so people can get help. Develop and publicize program guidelines and metrics in collaboration with the DRTC Coalition Partner with the DRTC Coalition and other trusted community groups to outreach to Detroiters at risk and facing eviction. Enter into contracts for qualified, experienced legal service organizations to provide full legal representation and supportive services. Collect, analyze, and make public information and data on services mandated by the ordinance. |
