STRIKING UAW LOCAL 2322 MEMBERS FROM GODDARD COLLEGE RALLY IN VERMONT’S CAPITAL CITY FOR A FAIR CONTRACT AND LIVABLE WAGES

Today members of the UAW Local 2322, Goddard College support staff, took their strike to the State Capital of Montpelier [Vermont] to rally in support of a fair contract. Central to their demands is a fair raise, bringing all workers up to a minimum of $20 an hour, and not allowing the College Administration to gain more ‘management rights’ in their Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Attending the rally in support were members of other AFL-CIO affiliates including AFSCME, AFT, UA, APWU, and OPEIU, as well as Vermont AFL-CIO President David Van Deusen. After suffering years of a deadly pandemic, and now massive inflation, UAW members at Goddard College are right to demand fair raises, livable wages for all, and NO concessions. And insofar as ‘an attack on one is an attack on all’ Goddard workers, buy engaging in this strike, are actively holding the line for the entire Vermont Labor Movement when they demand that their Contract reflect the dignity, respect, and economic stability that they have earned through their labor. The Vermont AFL-CIO therefore calls on ALL Union members and ALL working class Vermonters to actively supporting them by walking their daily picket line in Plainfield, by signing their petition, and by donating to their hardship fund.
