Monday – December 16, 2024 – 7 PM EST

6 PM Central

5920 Second Ave., Detroit, MI 48202

GUEST SPEAKER: Dr. Ismail Noor
Dr. Noor is a Palestinian who was born in the West Bank village of Anabta in 1949. He was forced to leave Palestine in 1967. Eventually he relocated to Michigan by 1978 where he became a student organizer (serving on the board and as president of GUPS (the General Union of Palestine Students), started a family, completed his PhD in Sociology and continued to share the story of Palestinian resistance to the Zionist occupation and his own Nakba survival.

Also: Joseph Mchahwar, a local Syrian-American activist who has written and lectured about the war on Syria throughout the years of its development.

“The Syrian Crisis Evolves – A Look Toward the Future”
Dramatic events in Syria have brought a forgotten war, which was for a decade the world’s most serious conflict, back to the forefront. Who are the players in the evolving Syrian war? Who benefits and who loses from the new arrangement of power? The future of Syria, the resistance axis, and the emerging multipolar world will be examined in this talk.
