Southern Workers Assembly
southernworker.org | info@southernworker.org
In a week, hundreds of rank and file workers from sectors and states across the South will come together in Spartanburg, SC for the Southern Worker Action Summit.
Together, we’ll take up some of the urgent questions of the day:
- how to build fighting workplace organizations that can challenge the boss and the billionaires who want to work us harder, pay us less, and rollback the gains we’ve fought for;
- how to bring more Southern workers into the movement to build power on the job and transform our society, from one where the rich try to keep us divided to one rooted in solidarity and where the wealth of society is used for the common good;
- and how to build infrastructure to coordinate our work going forward.
Take a look at some of what’s planned below.

| We also have sector and state based strategy meetings planned for the weekend, panels on building mass workplace actions on May Day 2028, cultural performances, and other large and small group discussions planned (as well as downtime to build connections) throughout. You can find the full program for the weekend here. There’s been an overwhelming response to the Summit, with more than 350 workers now signed up to participate. Delegations are planned from every workers assembly and from various unions and other worker organizations. We expect participation from every Southern state in the Summit. We need your support to make this gathering a success. If you’re able, a donation of any amount would be a tremendous help.
