| Organizing works, and these partners are proof.Sam, a 4-year partner in Seattle, watched their hours get slashed, then walked away with a $2,300 settlement from Starbucks. The difference? Their store has a union.Over at Arizona State, union barista Bee just graduated with tuition benefits she actually got to use. Not every partner gets that lucky. Starbucks sets a weekly hours minimum to qualify for tuition assistance, and understaffing keeps plenty of partners from ever hitting it. That’s why guaranteed hours are on the table in bargaining, along with the pay and protections partners need to actually use the benefits Starbucks likes to advertise. Dignity shouldn’t need a union to enforce it. But right now, it does. Take this one, filed under “we couldn’t make this up”: Starbucks management told a pregnant worker she needed a “special accommodation” just to use the bathroom when she needed to. She checked with her union. Turns out that wasn’t true at all. She just needed to be treated with basic respect. This is exactly the kind of thing a real contract would put a stop to. This is what baristas are fighting for. |

Every share makes it harder for Starbucks to pretend they don’t hear us! |
