The baristas who stood up to Starbucks over ICE

View this email in your browser

Earlier this year, baristas across the Twin Cities stepped up to protect their coworkers, customers, and communities. ✊

Starbucks was (and still is) letting ICE agents into stores despite clear worker and community concerns. Many other Minneapolis businesses managed to keep enforcement out of their spaces, because safety and trust matter. Starbucks refused to do the same. 🚩

So union baristas demanded the company update its ICE guidance and actually respect the people keeping these stores running. Workers at one union store in Minneapolis brought their concerns straight to their manager, on camera, and it went viral. 📹

In the video below, we’re looking back at that moment and why it still matters. When you’re in a union, you have the power to demand better from your workplace, not just you and your coworkers, but for your customers, too.
