The People’s Altar on the front steps of the Mayor’s office is still going strong.
Thank you to the people power for adding new flowers, cleaning, and providing supplies to keep it going so we can continue to remember every life stolen by police violence.
Our demands remain until we win them all:
-Arrest the killer cop
-Defund the police
-Strengthen the Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB)
-MPD must hand over all evidence to the Office of Independent Police Monitor (OIPM)
-Community control over the police
All power to the people!
The The People’s Altar is still up! And Satya knows better than to mess with it.
Please take some time today to visit the altar. Bring flowers. Bring candles. Bring photos of other people we’ve lost to state violence. Add their names, their faces, and their memories to this space.
We have to make sure they see the faces and know the names of the people who have been taken from our communities because of state violence.
They should not be able to go to work, walk past our grief, and sit comfortably in their offices while families and communities are mourning their loved ones and fighting for justice.
Our grief is public. Our memories are powerful. And our demands for justice will not disappear.
Keep showing up. Keep remembering. Keep fighting.
