First up, this is what organizing gets you.
A barista from Washington took on Starbucks with their union and won TWO YEARS worth of pay. You read that right. That’s what happens when you don’t back down.
When you organize with your coworkers, you have more protections and mechanisms to fight back against corporations that take advantage of you. And this isn’t the first time Starbucks has had to pay up at a union store. Watch the video to learn more.
Here’s this week’s brew:
Labor Day may be over, but the momentum isn’t. Congrats to our newest union stores in Conway, AR, Reno, NV, and San Luis Obispo, CA!
All that money, and none of it is going to workers.
We pulled out a classic Parks and Rec clip to make the point. That math doesn’t add up, and it’s exactly why we’re boycotting.
The California Faculty Association is standing with baristas.
They’re joining the boycott until Starbucks workers win a fair contract, and they’re done watching corporate greed win out over workers. See their statement here.
Stay loud, stay in solidarity, and thanks for being here with us!
In solidarity,
Starbucks Workers United
