A reminder that the Solidarity Fair in honor of Palestine’s Olive Harvest will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 2-4:30 pm at James Reeb Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 2146 E. Johnson Street, Madison.
This is a free drop-in event featuring many local organizations with multiple activities throughout the day…a full description is below and posted at the MRSCP Website calendar.
Activities include:
Palestinian snacks, including olive oil & zaatar tasting
Tatreez (embroidery) workshop
Bookmaking with Andaleeb Cartonera
Letter writing
Kite decorating (and post-event kite flying, weather permitting)
Children’s activities: story time and olive tree seed planting
Sales of Palestinian crafts, olive oil products, solidarity items and children’s books
Madison’s event is part of the Oct. 9-11 worldwide days of action called by the Global Alliance for Palestine demanding an end to the Gaza genocide and and arms embargo on Israel. October 10 is also the day of the People’s Tribunal on US Government Complicity in Palestine, being held in Seattle, so we will have a live feed to the tribunal.
Once again, this fall harvest event is part of our campaign to plant olive trees in the Madison-Masafer Grove in the West Bank. Besides directly sponsoring a tree or trees, you can help this year by donating items to the bake sale; if interested, please fill out this form.
Finally, the Solidarity Fair will be preceded in the morning by another Madison Mennonite Action “Witness to Genocide” empty shoe vigil for Gaza and Palestine at the Downtown Farmer’s Market, King St. corner of the capitol square, from 8:30 – 11 am. Everyone is invited to attend.
