Dear NNOC member organizations and supporters,
In March, during the Week of Action in Defense of Cuba, we showed up in force. More than 30 actions across dozens of cities, from California to Maine, Florida to Minnesota, and beyond, made clear that Cuba is not alone. The International U.S.-Cuba Normalization Conference in New York brought together 225 delegates and passed an action plan that launched the Saving Lives Campaign for neonatal and maternal health in Cuba. That was a powerful week. Now we need to go even bigger.
The situation on the island is dire. Doctors are performing surgery by cellphone light. Neonatal incubators are failing during blackouts. Over 100,000 patients are waiting for surgery, including 12,000 children. Three hundred of Cuba’s 395 essential medicines are in shortage. This is not just sanctions. It is collective punishment. It is genocide.
This fall will be decisive for our movement and for the struggle against the U.S. war on the Cuban people. This email contains four ways to plug in.

Lobbying tips: Build relationships with staffers, not just elected officials. Try phone banking to fill up voicemail boxes. This work can be enraging, so bring what you need to stay calm and regulated. Watch our recent national advocacy training for more tips.
Global Week of Action Against U.S. Genocide in Cuba: October 24 – 31, Day of Action: Wednesday, October 28
On October 28, the UN General Assembly will vote for the 34th time to condemn the U.S. blockade. For 33 years, the world has voted overwhelmingly to end it. The United States has ignored every single vote. This year, the vote cannot stand alone.
From October 24 to 31, as part of the #NoWarOnCuba campaign, we call on all NNOC member organizations, friends of Cuba, and social justice movements worldwide to organize, mobilize, and raise our voices. Host people’s assemblies, town halls, teach-ins, film screenings, cultural nights, material aid drives, webinars, letter-writing actions, and social media storms. Make the issue impossible to ignore.
On October 28, the day of the UN vote, organize a rally, march, banner drop, vigil, online action, or solidarity event in your city as part of an internationally synchronized day of action. Take to the streets. Take to every platform you have.
