Superior, WI, October 12-24 and November 9-13, 2026: Costs of War Public Display

The “Voice of the People”
Public Library Display about the Costs of War
Superior, Wisconsin
October and November

Exact dates listed below
The “Voice of the People” is a powerful, moving, insightful, educational message about the human costs of war as lived by people in the Twin Ports area of Superior and Duluth. It contains 156 personal stories, comments, opinions and feelings about the impact of our country’s many wars on local people’s lives.

Northland Grandmothers for Peace and Lake Superior Veterans for Peace gathered these stories during the week of Memorial Day. We received a wide variety of comments. Most were about the human costs for veterans and their families from the physical, mental and emotional damage of war. Some talked about the social and financial costs – taxes and cuts to social programs – for civilians and local communities. Some talked about the immorality, waste and senselessness of war. Some expressed pride in their service and the need to defend the country.

The “Voice of the People” display will be on display in the Superior Public Library from October 12 to 24, and at the Douglas County city/county complex during the week of November 9 to 13. For more information, contact Philip Anderson, Veterans for Peace, Ch 80.
