About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Across WI December 10: Candlelight Campaign Against Cuts

http://wisaflcio.typepad.com/wisconsin-state-afl-cio-blog/

From the WI AFL-CIO:

We just had an election in which one candidate, Mitt Romney, proposed to lower tax rates for the richest 2% of Americans and cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. He lost.

Now, we are asking Congress to respect the will of the voters by promising to:

1.    Let the Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans expire.

2.   Oppose benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Join us around the state on Monday, December 10 as we participate in a Candlelight Campaign Against Cuts to lobby our Congressperson to do what is right for the American people during the lame duck congressional session.

  • Appleton: 4:00 p.m. candlelight vigil outside Rep. Ribble’s Appleton office at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel, 333 W. College Ave., Appleton.

Join Us for

A NATIONAL PEOPLE’S POWER ASSEMBLY!

Saturday December 15 11:00am – 8:30pm

Lovely Lane United Methodist Church
2200 St. Paul St.
Baltimore MD 21218

3 blocks north of North Ave, near all major bus lines at North Ave., Charles St. & St. Paul St.

Dec. 15th will offer the people’s movement an opportunity to assess what we need to do to prepare for the coming year. Join in people’s hearings, plenums, floor discussion and in break out groups.

  • Building People’s Power – “What does that mean?”

  • End mass incarceration! Fight for community control of police!
  • Stop foreclosures & evictions – Defend immigrant and civil rights!
  • From Walmart to Wendy’s to the Hyatt – fighting for worker’s rights!
  • Social change, not climate change!
  • Say no to racism and anti–women and LGBTQ bigotry!
  • And much more!

If you need housing for Friday or Saturday

Please email BaltimorePeoplesAssembly@gmail.com. The people of Baltimore will open their hearts and homes to those who need housing. Bring a sleeping bag or air mattress. There is also hostel space in downtown Baltimore at the HI Baltimore hostel,17 W. Mulberry St., Baltimore, MD 21201. You can call them at 410-578-8880 or go to baltimorehostel.org. This hostel is relatively close to the summit. You can take the free downtown Circulator bus to North Ave and walk several blocks.

Transportation to Baltimore

The BOLT BUS stops at Penn Station which is within walking distance (.9 miles) of the Assembly (or take the free Circulator bus or MTA bus to North Ave.). Please note that there are other inexpensive coach buses but they drop off passengers on the outskirts of Baltimore City in the county and transportation from these areas is sporadic and sparse. Our organizers will be busy doing transportation pickups in the city, and will not be able to accommodate pickups outside of Baltimore. The Amtrak train runs services from BWI airport to Penn Station.

If you drive, there is easy and accessible street parking. If you park at a meter, the costs are very cheap but be aware that meters are in effect on Saturdays. There is also non-metered parking.

Funds & Volunteers Urgently Needed!

Please consider helping us with the many costs of the Assembly, the cost of the hall, food, and literature. Please visit https://www.wepay.com/donations/national-people-s-power-assembly to make a much-needed donation.

Be sure to visit  our Facebook event page and Join the event.

We will also be live streaming for those who cannot attend in person.
