June 30, Detroit Forum: ‘U.S., NATO Imperialists — Hands Off Syria!’

Saturday, June 30, 5920 Second Avenue, Detroit, 5 p.m.
Just north of Wayne State University and I-94, one block west of Cass, at Antoinette
Dinner served — $5 donation, $1 unemployed

HEAR: Sara Flounders
Co-director International Action Center (founded by Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General)

The United States, through the Pentagon, the C.I.A., the servile mass media, sanctions and the banks, along with its NATO allies and reactionary regimes in the Middle East, is waging war on the Syrian people.

The goal is regime change. They care nothing about the people of Syria. They care nothing about “democracy.” They only want to make Syria a satellite of imperialism and to re-enslave the people of Syria.

The murderous assault on Libya last year showed that the only ones who benefit from these imperialist regime changes are the big oil companies, the banks and Zionist Israel. The threats and attacks on Iran are also for the benefit of U.S. imperialism. The progressive movement in the United States must stand up and say “NO!” to U.S.-NATO political, economic and military intervention against Syria.

June 28 marks the third anniversary of the coup in Honduras where the democratically elected President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya was overthrown. Since then, a heroic people’s movement has arisen despite massive brutal repression, including countless assassinations of activists and leaders in the resistance.

The Honduras Solidarity Network issued a call for actions on Thursday, June 28. The Colectivo Honduras USA Resistancia-Libre, which is organizing Hondurans in the US and supports the resistance in their homeland, picked up that call.

The Latin America & Caribbean Solidarity Committee of the IAC supports this call as well as the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle, La Peña del Bronx, the May 1st Coalition and urges everyone to come out on Thursday, June 28.

However, because of the ominous right-wing coup in Paraguay last week, the Honduran Colectivo along with the rest have broadened the demonstration to include a denunciation of the coup that took place in Paraguay. Banners in solidarity with Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will also be raised high.
Come out and join us on Thursday, June 28!

SI TO THE PEOPLES MOVEMENTS IN LATIN AMERICA, NO TO US IMPERIALISM!
NO US WAR IN PARAGUAY, VENEZUELA, CUBA, HONDURAS, SYRIA OR ANYWHERE!

SELF DETERMINATION FOR THE PEOPLE OF LATIN AMERICA!

QUE VIVA LUGO, ZELAYA, CHAVEZ, FIDEL, RAUL, MORALES, CORREA Y TODOS LOS LIDERES ANTI-IMPERIALISTAS!
