Bolivia coup led by Christian fascist paramilitary leader and millionaire – with foreign support

Camacho hails from a family of corporate elites who have long profited from Bolivia’s plentiful natural gas reserves. And his family lost part of its wealth when Morales nationalized the country’s resources, in order to fund his vast social programs — which cut poverty by 42 percent and extreme poverty by 60 percent.

In the lead-up to the coup, Camacho met with leaders from right-wing governments in the region to discuss their plans to destabilize Morales. Two months before the putsch, he tweeted gratitude: “Thank you Colombia! Thank you Venezuela!” he exclaimed, tipping his hat to Juan Guaido’s coup operation. He also recognized the far-right government of Jair Bolsonaro, declaring, “Thank you Brazil!”

Camacho had spent years leading an overtly fascist separatist organization called the Unión Juvenil Cruceñista. The Grayzone edited the following clips from a promotional historical documentary that the group posted on its own social media accounts:

Demonstrations Escalate in Haiti Demanding the Resignation of Washington-backed Regime

A new round of popular unrest in Haiti on October 27 has left two people dead and many others injured. On October 25 and 27, the embassies of France and Canada were firebombed by angry crowds. Since August the rising price of fuel sparked protests calling for economic relief and the immediate resignation of President Jovenal Moise.

Moise, who represents the Haitian Tet Kale party, is accused of corruption and failure to address the monumental social problems facing the Caribbean nation which is still the least developed in the Western Hemisphere.

During the events of October 27, those marching against the government were fired upon by an unidentified individual, fatally wounding one person. The crowd set upon the assailant and killed him in retaliation.

The current administration in Haiti has been under scrutiny since it came to power in February 2017 amid accusations of malfeasance. A nationwide rebellion in the early months of 2019 shook the foundations of the administration. Unrest during the final days of October represents the seventh straight week of renewed opposition activity. Over two million children have not been able to attend school due to the fuel shortages and demonstrations while the humanitarian situation inside the country is worsening.

Moise has appealed to the United States for material assistance. The U.S. appears to maintain its support for the government while calling for dialogue between the opposition forces and the current administration. In a radio broadcast on October 28, Moise told the listening audience that: “I am hooked on reforms. I want to talk about constitutional reform, for example. I want to talk about the reform of the energy sector, the digitization of the public administration. Today we are in an acute crisis, but we can take advantage of this crisis to make this crisis an opportunity. We need stability in the country and to find that stability, we have to attack the system….”

Despite false claims to pull out American troops from Syria and scale down involvement abroad, the Trump regime has continued down the same disastrous path as his imperialist predecessors.

For five years, the Yemeni people have suffered the brunt of the most advanced weapons in the world on a daily basis in an aggression that’s killed or injured over 100k civilians.

The regimes in Washington, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi continue wielding famine and disease as weapons, triggering a humanitarian catastrophe, while infringing on Yemen’s right to self-determination.

Libya, which once enjoyed the highest standard of living on the African continent, has descended into a failed state and dystopian nightmare at the hands of the Obama regime and Washington’s NATO allies.

Meanwhile, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt all face political uncertainty and sit in the crosshairs of US military expansion.

SEVEN ACTIVISTS ARRESTED IN WI MOURNING CHILDREN KILLED BY U.S. DRONES

Image result for no drones at Volk field

Camp Douglas, WI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 12, 2019

For more information, contact Joy First joyfirst5@gmail.com or 608-239-4327

Seven peace activists walked onto the base at Volk Field today, wearing black veils, carrying limp dolls and posters of children killed by drones, and reading a statement.  They were arrested by Juneau County officers, handcuffed and taken to the station in Mauston, where they were cited for trespassing and released.

The action was organized by the Wisconsin Coalition to Ground the Drones and End the Wars.  This group of dedicated activists have been vigiling monthly at the gates of Volk Field since 2011.  This is the sixth action leading to arrests at the base.

Volk Field is an Air National Guard base that trains personnel to operate the RQ-7 Shadow Drone, which is an integral part of the United States drone program and used for reconnaissance, surveillance, and acquisition.  The drone program started under President Bush, got worse under President Obama, and worse still under President Trump.  Tens of thousands of people have been killed, including many children, with only an estimated 2% being people who were targeted.

Our government is using drones to kill people in over eight different countries in the Middle East and Africa.  Though the reasoning is to kill terrorists, the program actually has the opposite effect, and as loved ones are killed by drones, their friends and family can be recruited into what we call terrorist groups to retaliate.  Drone warfare is illegal by standards of our U.S. constitution and international law, and has been condemned by the United Nations, yet our country persists in this devastation.

Seven people, Bonnie Block, Joyce Ellwanger, Joy First, Bob Graf, Jim Murphy, Phil Runkel, and Brian Terrell, walked onto the base mourning the children who have died in attacks through drone warfare, while reading aloud the following statement.

Reading while walking onto the base at Volk Field on Nov. 12, 2019:

“We come in peace.

We come because we mourn the children who have died from attacks by U.S. military drones.  We remember these children, whose lives have been cut short while also remembering their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and grandparents who continue to mourn the deaths of these beautiful children.

We come because the United States is solely responsible for the deaths of many thousands of people from drone attacks, including thousands of children who have been killed by drones.

We come because our government covers it up, and it is impossible to really know how many innocent lives have been lost in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia and other countries in the Middle East and in Africa, yet the Journal for Investigative Journalism claims that between 8,000 and 12,000 people have been killed by U.S. drones.

We come because we are causing unimaginable grief to mothers and fathers, sons and daughters whose loved ones have been murdered by the US government.  We must remember that these are real people with names and families who love them.

We come because the personnel working with and training with the RQ-7 Shadow Drones at Volk Field are an integral part of and are complicit in the whole US drone warfare program.

We come because killing with drones is a violation of human rights and international law.  Drone attacks are clearly extrajudicial assassinations, going against the constitution and have been condemned by the United Nations.

We come because Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said “The Arc of the Moral Universe Is Long, but It Bends Towards Justice”, and we want to be a part of making the arc bend towards justice and call on you to be part of it also.

Peace Action WI will be supporting these peace activists when they go to court in January for the citations they were issued.

“We will return better, we will fight, we will win and we will return. Long live Evo Morales Ayma,” Bolivians living in Argentina chanted in unison.

Thousands of demonstrators marched Tuesday along the main avenue in Argentina’s capital to reach the Bolivian Embassy in Buenos Aires, condemning the coup that Bolivia is going through and offering full support to the legitimate president Evo Morales.

A prominent figure of the Bolivian community in that country Iber Mamani thanked the”support offered by the social and political organizations of the popular Argentinian countryside that pronounced themselves against the coup,” and demanded the protection of “the lives of the comrades who today are being persecuted, kidnapped and tortured.”

The leader of the MST Vilma Ripoll also present at the march, expressed the her “rejection to the coup carried out by the big bosses, the corporations and the armed forces, and endorsed by politicians like Mauricio Macri who until now has not declared anything about it.”

In dialogue with Pagina 12, Ripoll added that Evo Morales “had pending tasks in Bolivia, such as the purging of the armed forces.”

“We are here to repudiate what has no other qualification than a coup. We are very concerned about Evo’s physical integrity, as well as the threat to the region. We have to remember and prevent the return of coups in Latin America,” Argentinian Frente de Todos lawmaker Itai Hagman said amid flags and traditional Bolivian dances.

“Jallalla Evo Morales” was the expression most repeated by the Bolivian community installed at the door of the Bolivian Embassy in Argentina, a Quechua Aymara expression that symbolizes the unity of the people, their sense of belonging.

“We will return better, we will fight, we will win and we will return. Long live Evo Morales Ayma,” Bolivians living in Argentina chanted in unison.

Morales was forced to resign Sunday after senior army and police chiefs called on him to do so following weeks of right-wing unrest and violence against his Oct. 20 elections victory, in what his government has called a coup by opposition forces in the country.

We strongly condemn the military coup in Bolivia, and extends our solidarity to the Bolivian people who are struggling to defend the massive gains won under the leadership of President Evo Morales in the face of this counter-revolution. U.S. imperialism is clearly the sponsor of the coup and we are outraged at this crime against Bolivian sovereignty and democracy.

Come rally with us at the Stand for Peace Rally, which has been upheld on a weekly basis for many years by Peace Action Wisconsin, to condemn US intervention in the democratic affairs of a sovereign state. The battle in Bolivia and all of Latin America continues between the forces that want to empower the people and those that want to restore the power and wealth of the elite. People in the United States can play an important role in this intense struggle by pressuring our imperialist government to end its war on the people in Latin America and the Caribbean. U.S. hands Off Bolivia!
