About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Mass Meeting for the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival

Join Co-convenors Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis for a Mass Meeting for the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 pm at St. Gabriels Church of God in Christ. You can hear about the inspiration, vision and strategy for the Campaign. Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. The Campaign aims to build a broad and deep national moral fusion movement – rooted in the leadership of the poor, marginalized and moral agents and reflecting the great moral teachings – to unite our country from the bottom up.

The call for a Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has emerged from more than a decade of work by grassroots community and religious leaders, organizations and movements fighting to end systemic racism, poverty, militarism, environmental destruction & related injustices and to build a just, sustainable and participatory society. We draw on the history, vision and unfinished work of the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign.

There is a resounding call to save the very soul of this nation: We need a new Poor People’s Campaign for a Moral Revival in America. It is time to become a new and unsettling force in our complacent national life.

Join us for the Mass Meeting for the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 pm at St. Gabriels Church of God in Christ. Childcare is provided.

Milwaukee, September 16: Fighting Bob Fest

https://www.facebook.com/FightingBob/

We aim to honor and revive the spirit and mission of our namesake, Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette, the populist governor, U.S. Senator, and presidential candidate from Wisconsin who founded the Progressive Party and spent his career battling the corrupting, impoverishing and anti-democratic influence of big moneyed interests over government and public policy.

This is the court statement Judge Drain didn’t want you to hear from Rasmea Odeh

http://mailchi.mp/9d6e2e511342/rasmeas-statement-at-sentencing?e=62bd9c91f8

“…My people have the right to struggle to rid ourselves of the Israeli occupation of our country.   The U.S. government must stop disavowing our rights, and stop working with the Israelis to prosecute activists and organizers here. Most of the people and governments in the rest of the world are with us. Millions of people are supporting the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Black-Palestinian unity and solidarity is at its absolute height in the U.S., because both peoples recognize that the racist nature of the U.S. government and the racist nature of Israel are the same. When I saw those white racists marching in Virginia, all I could think of was the white settlers in Israel burning Palestinian children to death or marching to attack my people in Jerusalem.

Many of the social justice forces—from the Women’s March, the Movement for Black Lives, and anti-occupation and anti-Zionist American Jews, to immigrant rights, anti-torture, and civil liberties organizations—that supported my defense campaign did it not only because they support me as a survivor of torture and injustice, but also because they support the much more important cause of the liberation of all of Palestine—a democratic, secular Palestine for all.”

September 4: Strike & March on Labor Day to declare that the U.S. Needs Unions

Hosted by Fight for $15 Wisconsin

We’re fed up with lawmakers who have blocked minimum wage increases and gutted union rights. Join us this Labor Day, September 4, along with Fight for $15 workers in over 300 cities going on strike and declare that America Needs Unions!

Good union jobs in factories once created stable, secure work that allowed families to thrive. Hospital work and other service work is now the backbone of our economy, but too many Americans who work in these jobs are falling behind, so for the first time ever, non-union hospital workers will be joining us in the streets!

Protests will kick off early Labor Day morning! Stand with us and let’s come together to demand justice in our economy!
RSVP – Share – And Spread the word!

Workers at Target Store in Christiansburg, Virginia on Strike, Need Support

https://www.facebook.com/NRVstrike/

NRVstrike

http://laborradio.org/2017/08/24/new-river-workers-power-bottom-up-organizing-in-christiansburg-virginia-target-strike/

For the past several years Target manager Daniel Butler has engaged in repeated abuse of Target workers including sexual harassment and derogatory comments directed at POC workers. The Target management both below and above Butler have prevented any accountability towards him, and have even retaliated against workers who sought justice. Workers are left with no other alternative than to strike until their demands are met, which include:

1. The immediate termination of Daniel Butler from Target

2. Official recognition of our independent workers committee, which will handle all worker grievances at the Christiansburg Target store.

We ask that you join Target workers in solidarity on August 25th at 10AM, rallying on the public sidewalk located on Conston Avenue in front of the Target store.
