About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Justice for Rakeem Jones! No to Trump’s racist violence!

The following appeal is being circulated on behalf of Rakeem Jones, who was assaulted by a white supremacist at a Donald Trump rally in Fayetteville, NC and attacked by police. Trump has offered to pay the legal fees of the man who punched Rakeem in the face as him and his friends were being taken out of the rally after speaking out against Trump’s racism. The man who assaulted Rakeem later made a threat against him on national television saying that “next time we might have to kill him.” Since then, Rakeem has told his account of what happened that night to countless national media outlets and why he and his friends spoke out against Trump’s racism — and has been receiving constant threats against his and his family’s safety. Below is the text from an appeal Rakeem has put out for donations to relocate his family to safety — please help circulate and donate as you are able to.

On March 9, 2016, Rakeem Jones was assaulted at a Donald Trump Campaign Event at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. After being asked to leave, in the process of being escorted out by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, Rakeem was struck in the face by a member of the crowd in front of those very same deputies.

The deputies immediately took Rakeem to the ground, and allowed the assailant to return to his seat to continue to watch the event. The department released a statement stating that deputies were not looking when the assault occurred. The assailant was arrested the next day. The CCSD is conducting an internal investigation, but has yet to acknowledge any wrong doing or justify the actions, and inaction of their deputies.

During this time of uncertainty, Rakeem has been receiving multiple death threats, one of which was internationally televised. He and his family, including a 5 year old son, have been moving place to place staying with friends and family, living in constant fear and need to secure safe cover.

Chicago: April 1 Day of Action

More than 100,000 workers in the state of Illinois are out of a contract and are bargaining directly with our adversaries—Governor Bruce Rauner, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, bankers and billionaires like Ken Griffin, who are calling for school closings, university closings, budget cuts, lower wages for workers and restrictions on collective bargaining.

Racial injustice fuels the prison industrial complex by sending poor Black and brown men and women to prison each day. Chronic disinvestment has caused poverty in the state to grow considerably. Law enforcement agencies are under federal scrutiny for the murder of unarmed people and the mentally ill. Child-care workers and low-income parents are under attack. Yet multimillion-dollar arenas, museums and millionaire condos are being built all around us.

Tax cuts for those with higher incomes, a flat-tax system, and corporate loopholes galore have put Illinois in this fiscal distress. In Chicago, the mayor refuses to renegotiate bad deals with the banks profiting off of our “broke on purpose” schools. Enough is enough!

On April 1, 2016, we are asking all concerned Chicago citizens to unite in a day of action by:

• Withholding your labor
• Withholding your dollars
• Boycotting the Magnificent Mile
• Protesting Governor Rauner, Mayor Emanuel and billionaire Ken Griffin
• Protesting banks such as Bank of America
• Engaging in nonviolent direct action protests
• Demanding progressive taxation
• Demanding the release of the TIF surplus

RSVP at ctunet.com: https://actionnetwork.org/events/april-1-shut-down

Join families, students, teachers, workers, and all those who thirst for justice.

Protest at the BLM auction of our public lands to Fossil Fuel Companies!

St. Patricks Day
Thurs., March 17, 10:00 am

The federal government’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is planning to hold a fossil fuel auction in Milwaukee on March 17th, where they’ll lease publicly owned lands to the fossil fuel industry for drilling and fracking.

The parcels of public land set to be auctioned are located in Mississippi, Louisiana, Michigan and Arkansas to fossil fuel companies on March 17 in Milwaukee. These auctions are held in various sites around the country. National 350.org has been helping organize local protests at these auctions and, as a result, 7 of the past 10 auctions have been canceled or postponed and moved to different sites….Now it’s Milwaukee’s turn to shut it down.
