About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

SIGN to demand AMNESTY FOR JAILED BALTIMORE YOUTH! JUSTICE FOR FREDDIE GREY!

http://peoplespowerassemblies.org/baltoamnesty/

To Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, City Council and State’s Attorney:

Baltimore’s youth are not thugs! We are calling on the Mayor, the City Council and the State Attorney’s office to drop all charges.  We call for full amnesty, along with continuing our demand for justice for Freddie Grey.

In the past several weeks, close to 500 people have been arrested.  Some have been brutally beaten in front of television cameras, pepper-sprayed and held in central booking and at a nearby juvenile facility without due process.

Those arrested were denied their right to see a court commissioner within the 24-hour period previously required.  Those arrested also include journalists, medics and legal observers.

Allen Bullock, whose parents urged him to turn himself in after he was pictured on a news media photo for allegedly breaking a police cruiser’s windows, is facing life in prison.  His bail was set at $500,000, which is more than three times higher than the $150,000 bail set for the officers charged with the murder of Freddie Grey.  How can city officials equate property damage with the life of a human being?

The youth of Baltimore need our support.  We demand:  Drop all charges and grant full amnesty; the people of Baltimore, especially the youth, need full employment at a livable wage; decent education and housing, not jails, racism and police terror.

Sincerely,

Baltimore_Resistance

Madison, May 13: Black-OUT Wednesday, Answering The Call For A Black Spring, Justice 4 Tony Robinson!

Answering the National Call For A Black Spring

Out of respect for Tony Robinson’s family, Young Gifted and Black will not hold an action tomorrow after District Attorney Ismael Ozanne makes his announcement regarding whether officer Matt Kinney will be charged with the death of 19-year-old black teenager Tony Robinson. We call community members to use Tuesday to remember Tony and reflect on the complex ways state violence impacts Black lives.

We will resume our actions on Black Out Wednesday, the first day of action in Black Spring, a national movement for Black Liberation. Black Spring recognizes the death of Tony as connected to the killings of Freddie Gray, Michael Brown, Rekia Boyd, Tamir Rice, and Aiyana Jones. It is a movement that recognizes the poverty, mass incarceration, evacuated education systems, and physical and mental health struggles that Black people face all as injuries incurred in the war against Black people across in America. The long winter is over. It is time to grow and move in to spring, demonstrating resistance and resilience against the assault on Black people in Madison and across the country.

We will gather for a mass action at 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning at Williamson and Few St in front of the house where Tony was murdered where we will march to have a People’s Court. We ask workers, students, families, and community members who share our vision to stand up for Black lives as a part of this Black Spring movement, and Walk Out on Black Out Wednesday. NO WORK. NO BUSINESS. NO SCHOOL. NO JUSTICE? NO PEACE.

US Anti-War Activists Join Iranian Humanitarian Mission to Yemen

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contacts: Sara Flounders – 201-388-7428 , Scott Williams 919-794-1429

A ship containing over 2,500 tons of flour, rice, and medicine is departing from the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday. The delegation of doctors, journalists, and activists organized by the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran intends to deliver this much needed humanitarian aid to the people of Yemen, who are facing a horrific bombing campaign from Saudi Arabia.

Joining the Iranian volunteers is a delegation of anti-war activists from the United States. Caleb Maupin, an organizer with the International Action Center (iacenter.org) Fight Imperialism Stand Together (fightimperialism.org) and the United National Anti-War Coalition (unacpeace.org ) will be aboard the ship, along with other activists from Europe and the United States, including Tighe Barry from Code Pink (www.codepink.org) and Cyrus McGoldrick, a U.S. Muslim human rights activist.

“What the Saudis are doing to the people of Yemen is a horrific crime against humanity.” He said. “People all over the world must come together to support the people of Yemen.”

Saudi airstrikes have targeted schools, hospitals, power plants, and other civilian infrastructure, and at least 1,000 innocent people have already been killed.

An Iranian aircraft that intended to deliver aid to the people of Yemen was blocked by two US-made Saudi Jet fighters last week. The “Rescue Ship” departing from Iran on Monday will attempt to deliver the supplies by sea. Those organizing the vessel call on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries not to interfere with this humanitarian mission, and allow the Yemenis who desperately need aid to receive it.

Caleb described the mission, saying: “Blocking this ship, or doing anything to try and prevent its arrival is a clear violation of International law. The Red Crescent Society is recognized by the United Nations and other international bodies as a legitimate humanitarian organization. There will be nothing on board but food and medicine, which the people of Yemen desperately need.”

Maupin also went on to say “The United States must end its complicity with Saudi crimes in Yemen, and elsewhere. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the most repressive and autocratic regimes on earth, and its campaign of terror and violence against the people of Yemen is horrendous. The US must stop arming and coddling the Saudi regime.”

He added that US military bases throughout the Middle East should be closed down. The money instead should be used for providing jobs, schools, and healthcare for impoverished youth in the United States.
