MN: Help Save Rose’s Home

A community leader in Minnesota needs the Occupy Our Homes community to come together to stop her eviction. Rose McGee, a community leader in the Twin Cities, is nearing eviction, possibly as soon as tomorrow.

When Rose lost her job in the recession, she fell behind on her mortgage.  Despite owning her home for more than 20 years, CitiMortgage did not work with her to get a modification.  Instead, they lied to her about the modification, foreclosed, and sold her home to Fannie Mae.
Rose is fighting back to keep her home and stop this cycle of unjust foreclosures and evictions.  Locally, she is partnering with Jewish Community Action, the Northside Community Reinvestment Coalition, and Occupy Homes MN–part of the Occupy Our Homes network that has successfully stopped evictions over the past year. Since CitiMortgage and Fannie Mae are national organizations, Rose needs the backing of people from Portland, ME to San Diego, CA.  This struggle for housing justice is a national fight that unites us all.
Rose is back to work now. She can pay her mortgage. The only thing stopping her from being able to live with dignity is Fannie Mae’s refusal to go back to the negotiating table. Rose needs you to give Fannie Mae the push in the right direction. Take a second to sign her petition, and then we’ll be in touch with next steps in the campaign. Can you sign Rose’s petition to CitiMortgage and Fannie Mae to immediately stop her eviction and renegotiate her mortgage?

https://nationalpeaceconference.org/

Thirty representatives from many groups involved in anti-drone actions, met in New York on December 15, 2012 and established a coordinating body to be known as the Network to Stop Drone Surveillance and Warfare (NSDSW).

The group endorsed this draft statement of purpose:
“Horrified by the facts of the era of drone warfare and surveillance technology, we declare our commitment to establishing an ongoing network of groups and organizations. The Network to Stop Drone Surveillance and Warfare seeks to initiate and coordinate events and actions that will raise a united and spirited voice for justice and peace, and to stop weaponized drones and related technology applications. These activities are aimed at highlighting the illegality, immorality, and unconstitutional nature of using drones to spy on and/or kill human beings.”

Anti-drone website:  Droneswatch.org.    For more information and resources, and to join the Network, contact Nick Mottern – nickmottern@earthlink.net.
