Call Top Pentagon Attorney Jeh Johnson to Support Bradley Manning

http://www.bradleymanning.org/

On Monday, Juan Mendez, the United Nations’ top official on torture, blasted the Obama Administrationfor its abuses of accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower PFC Bradley Manning.

Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, Mendez stated:

“I believe Bradley Manning was subjected to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in the excessive and prolonged isolation he was put in during the eight months he was in Quantico.”

Jeh Johnson, in his capacity as General Counsel, has been the Pentagon’s main point of contact with Juan Mendez. He has been the official mouthpiece through which the Obama administration has repeatedly denied a private meeting between the U.N. torture investigator and PFC Manning.

Call Jeh Johnson’s office: 703-695-3341

If the main line is busy: 703-697-7248

You can also fax his office: 703-693-7278

Tell him:

  1. Let Juan Mendez meet with Bradley Manning in private, to conduct a proper fact-finding mission, according to the terms of his U.N. mandate.
  2. Drop all charges against Bradley Manning. There is no excuse to imprison and subject anyone, let alone a soldier and a whistle-blower, to prolonged cruel and degrading treatment.
  3. If he is unable to stand up for PFC Manning’s rights under the Constitution and international humanitarian law, he should resign.

Call-In Day to Milwaukee Alderpersons, TODAY, JOBS NOW!

http://www.facebook.com/groups/200937400007031/permalink/202659523168152/

From the Milwaukee Jobs Act Coalition:

STATE OF EMERGENCY Call In TODAY! Every day the joblessness crisis brings another Milwaukee family to the brink of disaster. WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION FOR OUR LEADERS TO LEAD! Even as they campaign on the Milwaukee Jobs Act, a number of Milwaukee elected officials have no interest in moving the legislation forward before the elections April 3rd. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

The Milwaukee Jobs Act Coalition has invited every Alderperson to a press conference at City Hall. So far not a single one, including our allies, have agreed to participate. It’s time that we hold people asking for our votes accountable for the crisis plaguing our community.

Immediately after the press conference we are holding the People’s Public Hearing on the Milwaukee Jobs Act. Community, Faith and Labor leaders throughout the city will take public testimony on the Milwaukee Jobs Act. They will use your ideas to develop an aggressive campaign to move the Milwaukee Jobs Act forward.

TODAY take five minutes out of your day, participate in the citywide call in day, and tell your Alderperson to join you at the Milwaukee Jobs Act press conference tomorrow in the city hall rotunda. Direct phone numbers and a sample script are attached below. If you do not know who your Alderman is please go to http://itmdapps.ci.mil.wi.us/electedreps/electrep.jsp

OCCUPY the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT: TRANSFORM THE WORLD! April 24, 11AM — Washington DC

Join Danny Glover, M1 of Dead Prez, Frances Fox Piven, Normal Finkelstein and others in a non-violent civil disobedience action or join our large-scale, spirited rally at the US Department of Justice, which will mark Mumia Abu-Jamal’s 58th birthday. Your pledge to engage in an act of civil disobedience (CD) is critical to ensuring news coverage of the case of this imprisoned, radical journalist and our broader demands. If you cannot commit to CD, pledge to be at the demonstration.
Pledge to Occupy the Justice Department, download the flyer, and get more information:
On April 24, we will breath life into the old labor slogan: “an injury to one, is an injury to all.” On that day we will say that we are all Mumia, we are all immigrants, we are all prisoners, we are all Bradley Manning, we are all poor, we are all Palestinian, we are all Troy Davis, we are all political prisoners, we are all occupiers!!!
WE DEMAND
1. Release Mumia Abu-Jamal
2. End mass incarceration
3. Jobs, Education, & Health Care. NOT JAILS!
4. End solitary confinement & stop torture
5. End the racist death penalty
6. Hands off immigrants
7. Free all political prisoners

Mr. Mumia Abu-Jamal
