Rasmea Odeh is at home in Chicago and preparing for her appeal in a Cincinnati courtroom. This follows an outrageous sentencing of 18 months in prison, to be followed by her deportation.
Our next step is to ask solidarity activists to plan for events with defense attorney Michael Deutsch sometime soon after June 10th, which is the day the defense will file the appeal. We will broadcast live to your city following the submission.
The prosecution will file its response to the appeal on or before July 8th, and then we believe that it will be heard sometime in September 2015. That is when we will mobilize supporters of Rasmea to attend the appeal in Cincinnati, OH, right on the border with Kentucky. We expect a large turnout since Cincinnati, a little over 4 1/2 hours from Chicago, is centrally located between the Midwest, South, and East.
Rasmea Odeh is a 67-year-old Palestinian American woman and Arab American community organizer. She is beloved by the women and children on Chicago’s Southwest side and suburbs, and by thousands of others across the U.S. and the world.
Odeh was arrested by Homeland Security in 2013 and put on trial in Detroit in 2014. Before the trial could even begin, Judge Paul D. Borman was forced to step down, to recuse himself, when it was revealed that he was a Zionist with financial and political ties to the Israeli occupation. His replacement, Judge Gershwin Drain, prejudiced jurors with his statements and conducted a trial full of irregularities. For example, defense lawyers were not allowed to mention her rape and torture by Israeli soldiers. Judge Drain also allowed her conviction by the military court of the illegal, Israeli occupation army to stand.
We are now in the final phase of the legal process, where federal judges make the rulings. The need to organize solidarity is now more important than ever.
“…We call on all progressive, communist, socialist, leftist, antifascist international forces in Europe and around the world to hold actions in solidarity with Donbass-Novorossiya in connection with the tragic death of Alexei Mozgovoi, whose funeral will be held on May 27 at 10:00 in Lugansk. Actions in solidarity with all who are fighting here for the ideals of socialism, equality and fraternity.
In connection with the death of Brigade Commander Alexei Mozgovoi, we ask our comrades to organize in their cities, where possible, informational pickets, laying of flowers at memorial sites connected with the history of the Soviet Union or the communist movement, or pickets at embassies of the United States or Ukraine with the demand to stop killing people in the Donbass, under the flags of the Ghost Brigade, Novorossiya and the red flags of the communists.
Please share and send us information about planned activities.
Long live international solidarity!
We will not break! Together we will win!
Fascism will not pass!
With respect and gratitude,
Coordinator of the AIS Forum

By Alexey Markov, political commander, Ghost Brigade Volunteer Communist Detachment
Alexei Mozgovoi, commander of the Ghost Brigae, the Communist detachment of the Donbass militia fighters, has been assassinated on the road from Luhansk to Alchevsk. Mozgovoi oversaw the liberation of Debaltseve, where the Soviet flag was raised again by his Ghost Brigade. He always argued for a genuine revolution, one that would throw off the chains of capitalism and give birth to a bright red future. Alexei Mozgovoi sacrificed everything for his ideals, his sacrifices are not wasted, the struggle carries on.
On May 23 at 17:30 an attempt was made on the life of Ghost Brigade Commander Alexei Borisovich Mozgovoi. After the explosion of a mine, the car carrying the Brigade Commander was shot by two PKs and one or two RPKs [machine guns].
Everyone in the car – Brigade Commander Mozgovoi, his Press Secretary Anna, driver “Song” and bodyguards “Canvas” and “Broom” – died on the spot. The assassins also hit three other cars, killing two civilians, including a pregnant woman.
Currently law enforcement authorities of the Lugansk People’s Republic are conducting investigations and operational activities aimed at identifying and apprehending the criminals. An official report from the command of Ghost Brigade will be announced shortly.
“Novorossiya shall be! Oligarchs out! Power to the real, common people! This is our chance in many decades to build an equitable, human and humane society” – Alexei Mozgovoi

As I prepare to return to Tehran I have become even more convinced of the need to overthrow the system of western monopoly capitalism. I am reinvigorated in my belief that there must be a global alliance of all forces who oppose imperialism. Whether they are Marxist-Leninists, Bolivarians, Anarchists, Shias, Sunnis, Christians, or Russian nationalists, all forces that oppose the continued domination of the planet by Wall Street bankers must firmly stand together.
The people of Yemen, like the forces of resistance in so many other parts of the world, have refused to surrender. As they face a horrendous onslaught with US made Saudi bombs, I hope that news of our peaceful, humanitarian mission has reached them. I hope they are aware that in their struggle against the Saudi King, the Wall Street bankers, and all the great forces of evil, they are not alone. There are millions of people across the planet who are on their side.
Imperialism is doomed, and all humanity shall soon be free!
