Madison, January 18, 2018: Join Derail the Jail Action at County Board!

Hosted by Derail the Jail

City-County Building, Madison, 6:30 – 9:30 P.M.

The County Board will be voting Thursday on actually borrowing the $76 million for constructing hundreds of new jail cells (as well as the rest of the 2018 capital budget) that they approved on Nov 20th — when we gave them the worst meeting they’ve had in decades, as one Supervisor put it.(see video here- http://alturl.com/oar72).
They are thinking that’s all past them. They’re thinking the Derail the Jail folks and everyone who cares about ending racist mass incarceration have given up and gone home. They are thinking they would a have quick, ruffle free business like meeting this Thursday night, as they lift the next among a series of roadblocks before jail construction can begin.

Let’s give them a rude awakening! They don’t get to continue to have business as usual while building cages and destroying lives!

WEAR ALL BLACK,

JOIN US @ 6:30 pm at City County Building (210 MLK Jr Blvd) just inside the doors for quick huddle and more details, then register to speak in public testimony or just register against the bonding resolution that includes borrowing for the jail construction. The County Board will be meeting in Room 201 starting 7pm

This is just the start! Derail the Jail is committed to continuing the fight against racist mass incarceration in Dane County in 2018 and beyond. We will continue the fight for reallocating funds and priorities away from caging humans and towards building up our community.
