Join us on Wednesday, December 9 at 4 PM at the McNamara Federal Building for a protest/vigil against the five scheduled Federal executions that President Donald Trump has ordered to take place in his last weeks in office.
While Trump is giving or planning to give pardons to many of his friends and family (and maybe himself) for their criminal conduct, he is rushing to kill four African American men and a white woman.
Brandon Bernard is scheduled to die on December 10 (International Human Rights Day). Alfred Bourgeois is set to be executed on December 11. Lisa Montgomery will be the first woman executed by the Federal government in 70 years on January 12, 2021. She reportedly is a person with mental disabilities . On January 14 Cory Johnson (with an IQ of 69) will be put to death and on January 15, the anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the government is set to execute Dustin Higgs. Bernard and Higgs will die for being accomplices to murders, but not actually killing anyone.
The death penalty in the United States has long been exposed as overwhelmingly racist. It is also clear that executions almost never are applied to the rich and powerful, no matter how heinous their crimes.
Say NO! to the racist death penalty! Say NO! to Trump’s mass executions!
