THE VERMONT AFL-CIO SUPPORTS THE RIGHT TO AN ABORTION – VOTE YES ON ARTICLE 22 AND FOR THE PROGRESSIVE PARTY SLATE ON ELECTION DAY

The Vermont AFL-CIO knows that women’s rights are worker’s rights. We do not hesitate when we say we support the absolute right of women to control their own bodies. That is why we are calling on all workers to vote YES on Article 22, the Reproductive Liberty Amendment. Passage of this state constitutional amendment will go a long way in protecting women’s rights here in the Green Mountains.

We also see with clear eyes that even as it is the national Republican Party which is presenting attacking abortion rights, the national Democratic Party has done nothing in the 50 years since the Roe Vs Wade decision to enshrine this right into federal law. And here in Vermont neither the Republican or Democratic Parties have shown a commitment to advancing a Union agenda on issues like Card Check or requiring prevailing wages for trades workers on school construction projects. We can are must do better!

Thus we are also calling on Vermont workers to reject both the Republican & Democratic Party tickets and instead to cast their ballots Progressive David Zuckerman for Lt. Governor and for the pro-labor Progressive Party slate for Vermont House and Senate elections. Together we can change what is politically possible in Vermont and beyond! United we will win!
