People are uniting to resist the development of Copperwood, a Canadian company’s proposal to mine next to and underneath Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park and store 40+ million tons of waste in proximity to Lake Superior. TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR OPPOSITION TO COPPERWOOD’S PROPOSAL, CONCERNED RESIDENTS ARE CAMPING JUST WEST OF THE NORTH COUNTRY TRAIL PARKING LOT, 20 MINUTES NORTH OF WAKEFIELD, MI. ON COUNTY ROAD 519. For now, the encampment is planned as a Friday through Sunday affair, until there is a critical mass to maintain it during the week.
