About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Statement by the CWA Committee on Human Rights in Support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

http://www.cwa-union.org/news/releases/statement-cwa-committee-on-human-rights-in-support-of-standing-rock-sioux-tribe

Friday, September 9, 2016

Washington, D.C. — The Communications Workers of America (CWA) and its Committee on Human Rights stands with members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in South and North Dakota as they fight to protect their community, their land and their water supply.

CWA stands with all working people as they struggle for dignity, respect and justice in the workplace and in their communities.

The Standing Rock Sioux and potentially 17 million others are threatened by the Dakota Access Pipeline route, a 1,170 mile oil pipeline that would run from North Dakota to Illinois. In addition to endangering those communities, the pipeline could possibly desecrate the ancestral burial grounds of the Standing Rock Sioux; this utter disrespect and violation cannot be allowed.

Members of the tribe point out that the pipeline, which would come within half a mile of the reservation’s water supply and burial grounds, would contaminate their community. The Army Corps of Engineers gave the Texas company building the pipeline “fast track” approval this summer without consulting with the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

CWA, through our Committee on Human Rights, stands with working people and against corporate greed, whether we’re fighting for clean water in Flint, Mich., against bad trade deals like the Trans-Pacific Partnership that would hurt U.S. jobs and communities, or the rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to safeguard their community.

The labor movement is rooted in the simple and powerful idea of solidarity with all struggles for dignity, justice and respect. CWA will continue to fight against the interests of the 1% and corporate greed and firmly stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe against the environmental and cultural degradation of their community. ###

UAW Local 833 President Calls For Solidarity Picket For Piggly Wiggly Workers in Sheboygan

UAW Local 833

Let’s help support our fellow Union brothers and sisters!

This is a message from Tim Tayloe (Local 833 president).

Tim is asking for a mass picket of the Sheboygan southside Piggly Wiggly from 10 am until noon on Sunday Sept. 11th. Those that are in our local, other locals, and any supporters of labor are highly encouraged to show up in support. By now we know just how important it is to get community support!

The employees there are being stripped of their union rights. We want to show our support as their union supported us during our strike. They donated $5,000 to Local 833 during our strike last year.
In addition -all of the items in our food pantry during the strike were purchased directly from the southside Piggly Wiggly, the only reason being- they were union. We also purchased around $8,000 in food and supplies from them during our strike.

This is an embarrassment to the community, and to Piggly Wiggly themselves.

SOLIDARITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monica Moorehead, Presidential Candidate for Workers World Party in WI Sept. 16, 17

vote4socialism-opg-meme-cant-vote-away-racism

Join labor and community activists for open discussions in Milwaukee and Madison with Monica Moorehead, a Black revolutionary socialist woman running for president. Moorehead’s Vice Presidential running mate Lamont Lilly spoke in Milwaukee in July. The discussions will center around why class solidarity is key to revolutionary socialism. Moorehead-Lilly are on the presidential ballot in Wisconsin.

The Moorehead-Lilly campaign is in solidarity with Black Lives Matter; supports unions and other workers’ organizations, the LGBTQ community and women’s liberation; defends the Milwaukee Rebellion against cops murdering Black and Brown people, and fights for a socialist system that puts people before profit and that nurtures the environment. Neither Trump nor Clinton represent poor and working people – both parties are pro-war, anti-immigrant, anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ, anti-woman, and anti-worker. Together, poor and working people can organize in the streets for collective liberation.

Two days ago, Rev. Pinkney was transferred out of Marquette Branch Prison, which he often described as Michigan’s “concentration camp.” He is now at West Shoreline Correctional Facility (MTF) in Muskegon Heights. We look forward to hearing more from him about the transfer and the conditions at his new facility.

It is critical that we send Rev. Pinkney letters, cards, and postcards to let the administration at this new facility know how much we support Rev. Pinkney. Please write to:

DEFEND THE #NoDAPL
DAKOTA ACCESS
PIPELINE RESISTANCE!

Since April, heroic Water Protectors from Standing Rock and others from the Oceti Sakowin (Great Sioux Nation) have been attempting to stop the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, part of the Bakken Pipeline. The DAP is scheduled to be built under the Missouri, Mississippi and Big Sioux rivers in violation of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s rights as an Indigenous Nation as well as presenting a danger to the drinking water of millions of people in the region.

Thousands of people from scores of Indigenous nations as well as many non-Native supporters have since poured into the area to join the encampments in North Dakota and block the construction. Native youth walked more than 1500 miles to the White House this summer to try to bring attention to this struggle.  Despite violent police-orchestrated terror, including arrests, private security goons and the use of attack dogs, the peaceful resistance led by Indigenous people has only grown stronger, sparking national and international support.

Governor Jack Dalrymple has now called in the National Guard. This ongoing military escalation is outrageous. Anyone with a shred of decency or awareness of the ongoing genocide of Indigenous Peoples is already inflamed by the government’s efforts to combat the Water Protectors and let Big Oil corporations roll through Native land.
We urge people everywhere to stand with Standing Rock as they carry out a courageous and necessary struggle to protect the land and the water from poisonous oil pipelines. We agree completely that “Mni Wiconi. Water Is Life.”

Moorehead/Lilly Election Campaign to Send Delegation

On Friday, September 9, the Moorehead/Lilly Presidential Campaign of Workers World Party will send a delegation to North Dakota to show their unconditional solidarity with this struggle. Presidential candidate Monica Moorehead said, “This struggle is not only an environmental struggle, important as that is. At its core, this is a struggle for national sovereignty of one of the hundreds of oppressed Native Nations in this hemisphere. Indigenous people have every right to veto any pipelines or other developments on their lands or in their waters. We want to demonstrate in every possible way that, to us, Black and Indigenous Lives Matter.”

The delegation will bring tents, food, water and other items to donate to the camp.“This is not a one-time thing for us,” said Lamont Lilly, WWP’s vice presidential candidate who is leading the delegation. We have Indigenous and other members who have been supporting this struggle for some time now, and we plan to organize ongoing activities in support of this heroic and inspiring struggle, including mobilizing other delegations. On September 24, we will raise the struggle of Standing Rock at our Hard Times Are Fighting Times conference in Durham, N.C. to bring this struggle to the South.

Election Campaign Manager Teresa Gutierrez said, “Standing Rock is our Bolivia. When the Indigenous people of Bolivia stood up to defend their water and land, the world took note, inspiring millions of people to fight back against corporate greed. Standing Rock is doing the same right here in the belly of the beast.
