About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Feb. 12: Simon Trinidad Social Media & Call-in Day!

The peace process between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Colombian government is moving forward and taking place in Havana, Cuba. Recently, President Obama thanked Havana for hosting the peace talks and declared that the US supports the “ implementation of the Colombian accord on the victims of the conflict, justice, and restitution of the lands” This means that the US supports the points where the FARC-EP and the Colombian government came to an agreement. FARC-EP representative Marc Leon called the agreement “nearly irreversible.” Yet President Obama refuses to acknowledge or act on the FARC-EP’s request to have Simon Trinidad, political prisoner & FARC-EP negotiator, present at the bargaining table. We need to demand his release so that the peace process may move forward. This Valentine’s Day we need to express our passion for peace and love for Simon Trinidad and all progressive Colombians by calling for the immediate release of Simon Trinidad so that he may fulfill his role in the negotiations.

Call President Obama at (202) 456-1111

Say: “I want Peace for Colombia and to ask President Obama to free Simon Trinidad for Valentine’s Day! Trinidad belongs at the peace talks, not in solitary confinement at the Florence Colorado Supermax prison. Peace and love for all progressive people in Colombia!”

150 Years of Civil Rights Legislation and the Struggle for Black Power

African American History Month 2016 Series No. 3

“…This election year of 2016 is marked by a total absence of discussions and debates by the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates over the status of African Americans and oppressed peoples inside the U.S. Should there be a new push for renewed legislation as opposed to a greater emphasis on mass civil disobedience, boycotts, urban rebellions and general strikes or combination of all of these tactics aimed at total equality and full national liberation? What is obvious is that the present system of declining capitalism and imperialist militarism offers no future for the African American people and the working class in general.

Only the realization of socialism where the people control the means of production will there be any possibility of eliminating racism, national oppression and economic exploitation. There can only be freedom for the oppressed with the expropriation of the ruling class and the radical redistribution of wealth to the working people.”

Madison, Feb. 18: Día sin Latinos / Day without Latinos

Sponsored by Voces de la Frontera, Voces de la Frontera

English below

DAY WITHOUT LATINOS, IMMIGRANTS, AND SUPPORTERS
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18

Stop racist, anti-immigrant legislation that put our communities in danger and separate our families!

10am: massive mobilization at the Capitol in Madison
8am: Buses leave from 1027 S. 5th St. in Milwaukee

In 2006 the community defeated the Sensenbrenner bill HB 4437. We need this action again to defefat AB 450 and SB 533.

AB 450 would have police act like Immigration agents.
SB 533 would block local IDs in Milwaukee and statewide.

Please call 414-469-9206 for more information.

Stop Water Privatization in Wisconsin

From the Overpass Light Brigade

Update in the fight to stop the privatization of Wisconsin’s water!

The legislative calendar for Tuesday, Feb 9th has been circulated via ballot to legislative leaders on the Senate Organization Committee and AB 554 the “Water Takeover Bill” is NOT on the calendar that is being voted on. Nor is SB 432, the companion bill.

This means that the next most likely target date would be February 16th, but it also means our pressure is working, but we cannot stop until this bill is voted down for good. Keep those calls coming and keep up the great advocacy, Wisconsin.
