About wibailoutpeople

We are a part of the national Bail Out The People movement which formed in 2008 to fight against the bailouts to the banks. Since then we have been in numerous fights against poverty, racism and war. We demand that the people be bailed out not the banks, a moratorium on all foreclosures, a federal jobs program now and other demands. We have been participating in the Wisconsin people's uprising, Bloombergville in NYC and numerous other people's actions.

Response to Obama’s Speech: Accelerate the Antiwar Movement!

International Action Center statement: http://tinyurl.com/pt4gxom

Only the peoples’ movement can stop war, which the U.S. will try again in Syria later. The struggle continues. The anti-war nerve touched by the latest announced attack was unemployment, poverty, the just-announced cuts in food stamps, Trayvon Martin, low wages, students’ debt burdens and furloughed workers.

All those issues remain, and so does the need to fight for “Money for jobs, not for war!”

Chicago, September 10: Tell, President Obama, the Congress & the Media: Listen To The People-No War With Syria

http://tinyurl.com/ouqjmla

6 p.m., 435 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago (Tribune Tower)

The public – both in the U.S. and abroad – overwhelmingly opposes U.S. bombing of Syria. Yet both President Obama and the media are working overtime to manufacture approval for a war that most of us reject.

On Tuesday night, Obama will go on national TV and do as so many Presidents have before him – advocate bombing another country to “save” it. Like George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Colin Powell, he will string together a series of half-truths and outright lies to justify war.

We reject this latest war and the media campaign used to promote it. Join us Tuesday at Tribune Tower, 435 N. Michigan, for Obama’s speech, when we’ll march to local media outlets to deliver a rebuttal from the American people to the press, the President and Congress: We won’t be hustled again — No war with Syria!

Cosponsored by the Gay Liberation Network, Neighbors for Peace, ANSWER Chicago, CAMI-Committee Against the Militarization of Youth/Comite anti-militarizacion, La Voz de Los de Abajo, Northwest Indiana Veterans for Peace, World Can’t Wait Chicago, Chicago Area Peace Action, The Anti-War Committee, Rising Tide Chicago, Near West Citizens for Peace and Justice, and Oak Park Coalition for Truth and Justice (list in formation).

Honduras Solidarity Network: Oppose All U.S. Military Intervention in Syria

At its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 9, 2013, the coordinating committee of the Honduras Solidarity Network unanimously agreed to oppose all US military intervention in Syria’s civil war as a violation of international law and treaties and the United Nations Charter. We urge all Honduras solidarity activists to call your elected officials in Washington, DC to express your opposition to the bill submitted by the Obama administration for Congressional authorization of the use of force. There are many organizations with petitions, calls to action, demonstrations, etc. We urge Honduras solidarity activists to actively participate in and promote these ways to make our voices heard and to stop the United States from again committing Crimes Against the Peace, War Crimes, and Crimes Against Humanity.

Chicago, Sept. 12: No War on Syria! No War For The 1 Percent!

http://tinyurl.com/pw2fvfw

5 p.m., Michigan & Randolph, Chicago

Join the Anti-War Committee – Chicago, the Syrian American Forum, and ANSWER Coalition – Chicago, to respond to President Obama’s call for war on Syria, and to condemn war profiteers like Boeing.

Whatever President Obama says on Tuesday, we know what our response will be: No War on Syria.

War for the 1%

Who will benefit from this war? Weapons manufacturers like Raytheon, which makes the Tomahawk missiles. The value of their stock has soared in recent weeks, because the war could include 200 to 400 of these cruise missiles.

Chicago has its own war profiteer: Boeing Company. The White House is planning to use Boeing’s long range bombers to attack Syria. Those bombers will be loaded with “smart bombs,” made by Boeing as well.

Don’t Be Fooled Again

John Kerry said last week that Saudi Arabia will pick up the tab for the U.S. war. His message to the U.S. taxpayers was that they won’t have to pay for this war.

We know a politician is lying when his lips move.

U.S. military expenses are currently at $653 billion yearly. More than that, war takes life. The U.S. war in Iraq cost over 1,000,000 Iraqi dead, plus the 4,500 U.S. troops who died.

The people of this country have paid enough for war already. We need money for jobs, healthcare and education, not war.

Say no to U.S. war for the 1%

Cruise missile-maker Raytheon’s profits may be up, but our cities are crumbling. Food stamps are being cut, people are losing their pensions, workers are being furloughed by the sequester. The resources of society are being dedicated to another war while the people suffer.

Meanwhile the war profiteers and other members of the 1% are getting richer. The International Action Center, which in New York will protest in front of the Stock Exchange on Thursday, September 12, is issuing a call for nationwide local actions at military contractors, weapons makers and other corporate war profiteers.

This weekend saw a massive outpouring of anti-war action which only was the tip of the iceberg when it comes to mass sentiment against this war. While Congress deliberates, let’s hit the warmakers with mass action! Hands Off Syria!
